The adiabatic elastic constants of potassium are measured with two different pulse-echo methods. The results are compared with low temperature data given by other authors and theoretical predictions. Values of the thermodynamic Grüneisen-parameter are calculated therefrom. The adiabatic and the isothermal compressibilities agree well with earlier low temperature data and with static measurements. An analysis of the anharmonic effects reveals a close relationship between the results reported here and the data of sodium given in an earlier paper.
