This project aimed to measure local progress toward selected Changing Childbirth indicators using a client questionnaire. From responses given, it appears that knowing a named carer throughout pregnancy and childbirth is not the top priority for all women. For respondents, it was more important to have good quality care from all health professionals. In conclusion, the Changing Childbirth indicators should not be audited in the same way as objective standards. It is important to consider women's own interpretation of whether services were satisfactory, in addition to ascertaining what these services were.
