Analysis of the 2p⁴3s, 2p⁴3p and 2p⁴3d Configurations of Five-times Ionized Silicon (Si VI)

The Si VI spectrum has been investigated in the vacuum UV. About seventy new lines (690-1 344 Å) have been identified as transitions between the 2 p 4 3 s , 2 p 4 3 p and 2 p 4 3 d configurations, leading to the determination of energy levels belonging to these configurations. Intercombination lines between terms of different multiplicities or different parentages are observed. The ground-term transitions from the 2 s 2 p 6 level (246-249 Å) and from the 2 p 4 3 s configuration (91-101 Å) have been remeasured. The level identifications are supported by parametric calculations and isoelectronic comparison.
