Vapour‐liquid equilibrium measurements on the NH 3 CO 2 H 2 O‐urea system within the operating range of the absorption and condensation steps of the recycle urea process have been made. From the Margules formulae, a generalised formula for activity coefficients of components in multicomponent system has been derived. Equations for NH 3 and H 2 O partial pressures over solutions of the system investigated were developed using the Raoult's law and an ionic equilibrium principle.
