THE RELATION BETWEEN LIVE WEIGHT AND FEED CONSUMPTION Horton1 has recently obtained the average live weight and the average feed consumption of a group of 183 White Pekin ducklingsa, at intervals of one week, from the time of hatching until the age of 12 weeks. Being very much interested in the relation between live weight and feed consumption in the various classes of poultry, the writer decided to examine Horton’s datab in order to ascertain if this relationship, in the case of White Pekin ducklings, were expressable by the law of diminishing increment. Horton’s original data relating to the average live weight and the average feed consumption of the ducklings are given in Table 1. The first step in the examination of the data was to plot the average live weight against the cumulative feed consumption.
