Summary A new method for simultaneously determining the permeability and porosity of low-permeability cores is described. This method uses unsteady-state gas flow, which results in rapid tests. Equations are presented that describe the pressure response as a function of porosity and permeability. Comparisons of results to numerical simulations and conventional core-analysis methods are presented that verify the method 's accuracy.
