SUMMARY The growth of wheat, field beans and sugar beet was studied, in sand or soil (pH 6⋅1) treated with either disulfoton, phorate, thionazin or menazon. Menazon was only slightly phytotoxic, phorate and disulfoton were intermediate and thionazin most severe in effect.
