The fans of the five‐time soccer world champions Brazil are always welcome in the host country of the World Cup, because they are seen as a very exotic and lively party group. This essay intends to describe the Brazilian crowd and evaluate their impact on the 2006 World Cup in Germany. The main questions are: Who are the Brazilian fans? How do they behave? What do they think about the World Cup? Two main groups of Brazilian fans were analysed: the rich, all‐inclusive travellers with ticket guarantee; and the self‐organized, independent fans without ticket guarantee. The major problems for the second group was the ticket question, lack of information about the Fan and Visitor Programme in Brazil, and more information in different languages. However, in general, Brazilian fans were very satisfied, especially with the Fan and Visitor Programme, the stadiums and public transport facilities.
