The variational method developed in the previous paper is applied to the calculation of nuclear moments of inertia using an anisotropic harmonic well and neglecting spin-orbit couplings. The inter-nucleon forces are assumed to have a Gaussian form, either with zero range or with a realistic range, and in the latter case either for ordinary (Wigner) forces or for a Serber mixture. The results are shown in the figure. While with such a crude model no detailed agreement can be expected, the orders of magnitude and the trend of the results are encouraging.
