A phenomenological theory is presented of the magnetic properties of two-component alloys, one of whose components has a permanent magnetic moment, and the other an exchange-enhanced paramagnetic susceptibility. The paramagnetic susceptibility, magnetic-ordering temperature, and magnetization at low temperature are discussed in terms of this theory, and the results obtained are applied to cubic alloys ACo₂ between rare earth (A) and cobalt.
