The theory of electron scattering by an antiferromagnet is extended to include the case of metallic targets, in which the periodicity of the magnetic arrangement is not necessarily commensurate with the lattice. In the Hartree‐Fock (random phase) approximation, it is shown that the elastic part of the differential scattering cross section has an expression equivalent to that derived for the Heisenberg model in an antiferromagnetic insulator, with the difference that the sublattice magnetization is replaced by the proper Fourier component of the oscillatory magnetization.
