The J c evaluation was examined on the assumption that a Joule heat caused by the current for resistivity measurement exceeds the sample thermal cooling from the liquid nitrogen refrigerant when current density ( J c ) becomes more than a critical value for Bi-Pb-Sr-Ca-Cu-O superconductors or Au-mixed Bi-Pb-Sr-Ca-Cu-O composites. Re-examination revealed that a normalized J c value was independent of the sample sizes. The calculation method proposed here allows J c of different-sized samples to be directly compared.
