The phosphorus availability in diets containing algae meal with a high concentration of aluminum was determined by evaluation of the response of tibia ash and phosphorus. Graded levels of dicalcium phosphate were added to six diets with 10% algae meal containing 5% aluminum and to corresponding control diets. The diets were fed daily for 10 days, each lot pair-fed to the lot consuming the least feed. The results show that .76 g of supplementary phosphorus were required to ameliorate the decline in bone calcification and prevent the hypophosphatemic effects of 1 g aluminum in diet.
