Measurements were made of Rayleigh's ratio and the depolarization ratios ρv and ρh on twelve optical glasses. Within an estimated error of ±5%, the ratio ρh equals unity in eleven of them, in apparent contradiction to the work of other investigators. It is concluded that light scattering does not distinguish a glass from a liquid.
