Overall rate constants for the removal of N 2 (A, v' ) by H 2 (X), F 2 (X) and H 2 C 2 O(X̄) were measured at T = 298 K in a fast flow reactor at constant injector position. N 2 (A) molecules in the vibrational states v' = 0, 1, 2, 3 were produced in the reaction of Ar( 3 P 0,2 ) with N 2 (X) and detected by laser induced fluorescence (LIF) using the excitation of the first positive system of N 2 , B( 3 Π g )σ A( 3 Σ + u ). The measured rate constants are: magnified image The rates of reactions (1), (2) and (3) and the reaction mechanisms are discussed.
