Identification of a second resonant state of H²⁻

A previous calculation (Taylor and Thomas 1972) suggested the existence of a second resonant state of H 2- which has since been observed experimentally at 17.2 eV. A new analysis of the calculated data yields a state which is 60 per cent (2p) 3 and 20 per cent (2s) 2 (2p) with an energy of 17.26 eV.
