The saturation behaviour of an acoustic paramagnetic resonance experiment is derived in the steady state for a variety of lineshapes, using a semiclassical phenological model. Above a critical acoustic power instability appears and oscillations of acoustic power grow as they propagate through the system. Conditions are given for the appearance of the instability. The oscillations should be observable in acoustic paramagnetic response experiments.
