Experimental study demonstrates metal-free synthesis of N-sulfonyl amidines via deacetylative C–C bond cleavage, highlighting a versatile one-pot protocol for diverse molecular scaffolds.
An unprecedented deacetylative bond scission has been achieved through a metal‐free approach involving isonitriles, N , N ‐dibromoaryl sulfonamides, and 1,3‐dicarbonyl compounds. In this transformation, the 1,3‐dicarbonyl compounds act as carbon nucleophiles in the presence of a base. An in situ generated carbodiimide intermediate subsequently undergoes CC bond formation with the carbon nucleophile, followed by deacetylative CC bond scission. This versatile one‐pot synthetic protocol provides access to a diverse range of molecular scaffolds, exhibiting a broad substrate scope and excellent functional‐group tolerance under mild reaction conditions.
