Alcohols (methanol, ethanol and iso-propanol) were found to be oxidized by the “current doubling” process on an illuminated rutile electrode. The reactivity of alcohols decreased in the order, methanol > ethanol > iso-propanol. This tendency seems to correspond to the amount of adsorbed alcohol on rutile.
