Background: Skin cancer is a major global health issue, with an increasing incidence particularly in non-melanoma skin cancer (NMSC) cases. Squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) represents the second most frequent subtype of NMSC, often associated with chronic sun exposure, immunosuppression, or prior radiation therapy. Despite adequate surgical treatment, SCC recurrence remains a substantial challenge. Objective: To determine the dominant recurrence factors in patients with SCC of the skin after wide excision surgery at RSUP Dr. M. Djamil Padang. Methods: A retrospective cohort study was conducted by reviewing medical records from January 2018 to September 2024. Results: Out of 69 patients, recurrence was detected in 27.5%. Neurological symptoms, predilection site, and tumor stage were significant risk factors. Conclusion: Tumor stage was identified as the most dominant factor contributing to recurrence.
