In Reply. —I appreciate Dr Romano's observation that the histogram in Fig 7 is incorrectly labeled. Figures 6 and 7 are different displays of the same data from the same patients. Figure 7 should be labeled as describing patientswithoutamblyopia. I believe this should clear up this confusion that Dr Romano naturally experiences. Dr Romano's letter does focus on the important problem of how to apply the data in this report to the actual clinical diagnosis of strabismic amblyopia. Figure 1 shows that 100% (21 of 21) of the 21 esotropic patients with two or more lines of amblyopia demonstrated the "fix" pattern, and Fig 2 shows that 84% (16 of 19) of the esotropic patients with one line of amblyopia demonstrated the "fix" grade of fixation preference.
