A new 1-azaoxoaporphinoid alkaloid, 8-hydroxysampangine (1), was isolated from the trunk bark of Cleistopholis patens (Annonaceae), a medicinal plant used in Gabonese traditional medicine. Its structure was elucidated using two-dimensional NMR techniques (COSY, HMQC, HMBC).
