Very little information is available on the population dynamics of plants, even of annual species despite the fact that these pose relatively few practical problems in their study (Harper & White 1974). This paper reports a monitoring of the survivorship of Cerastium atrovirens Bab. (= C. diffusum Pers. ssp. diffusum fide C. Favarger, personal communication) from autumn germination to death of the last adults in the following May on the sand dunes at Aberffraw, Anglesey. The vegetation of the area has been described quantitatively by Pemadasa, Greig-Smith & Lovell (1974).
