A grazing-incidence grating monochromator with photoelectric detection carried by an Aerobee rocket to an altitude of 234 km on May 2, 1963, recorded the solar XUV -spectrum from 310 A to 55 A. For wavelengths from 310 A to 250 A, the new data agree rather well with earlier values from 196( 1962 experiments covering the t300250 A region; for wavelengths from 250 A to 55 A the new data represent a substantial improvement in both spectral resolution and background suppression beyond the experimental state of photoelectric XUV spectrophotometry reflected in earlier space experiments.
