The effect of microwave irradiation on a dielectric material capable of absorbing incoming energy is studied. A model of thermoelectric-elastic state of dielectric is proposed. The model is based on the analysis of a microparticle system - hard dipoles of a polar dielectric. The results are exploited in constructing the models for dielectric media of some other types. The thermoelectric and electrostriction effects can be described in this framework, and the former is associated with the rotation temperature notion. Both effects are illustrated by numerical examples: water heating and slight cooling of solid quartz. The results obtained are in qualitative agreement with the known data.
