A practical method for continuous granulopheresis of normal individuals, based on selective filtration–adsorption of the granulocytes, was developed. Large numbers of granulocytes (up to 0.6 × 10 11 ) can thus be separated and collected under sterile conditions from one donor on a single donation. The cells are viable by in vitro criteria including eosin exclusion and phagocytic ability. The procedure is tolerated well by the donors. The granulocytes separated by filtration–leukopheresis are suitable for clinical studies.
