SynopsisReproductive issues have been seen predominantly as a concern of women rather than men. Recently however, interest in changed attitudes towards interpersonal relationships, including commitment in sexuality, have received attention from some men. This has resulted in their being described as the ‘new’ man. This paper analyses some issues surrounding reproduction, specifically contraception, abortion and pregnancy, from the new perspective of mutual responsibility in sexuality. Connections between attitudes to sexual relationships and reproduction on the one hand, and child care and support on the other, are suggested.
