Does Practolol or D-Propranolol prevent dysrhythmia in patients with recent myocardial infarction?
Early administration of Practolol or D-Propranolol post-myocardial infarction does not appear to prevent dysrhythmias.

Neither practolol nor D-propranolol prevents post-MI dysrhythmias; challenges early beta-blockade assumptions and redirects research to alternative strategies.
In a double blind trial, 279 patients who had a myocardial infarction less than eighteen hours previously were divided into three groups and given tablets of Practolol, 50 mg 6- hourly, D-Propranolol, 50 mg 6- hourly and Placebo respectively for 5 days during which period their ECG was continuously monitored. No definite protection from dysrhythmia was observed.
