Peroxidase-like catalytic activity of a heme peptide-modified electrode is reversibly controlled by use of poly( N -isopropylacrylamide- co-N -vinylimidazole), a thermoresponsive copolymer with a functional group that inhibits the catalytic activity. The polymer suppresses the cathodic current response of the electrode to below its lower critical solution temperature (LCST), and no suppression is observed above the LCST.
