The spin-fluctuation contribution to the p-state pairing interaction in Pd is calculated. The resulting transition temperature, due to spin fluctuations alone, is only of order 10^-5 K indicating that the occurrence of an observable p-state transition depends strongly on the phonon interaction. Recent calculations of the p-wave phonon interaction are briefly discussed but do not yet allow a reliable prediction of Tc.
