The energetic model describes the hysteresis characteristics of magnetic materials using a simple analytical formula, the seven parameters of which are identified by the measured saturated $B - H$ loop. However, the energetic model with these fixed parameters cannot predict the inner symmetrical minor loops accurately and presents a serious problem in the application of core loss calculation with the finite-element method. In this article, a new technique, which assumes that one of these parameters named loss coefficient is a function of loop coercivity, is proposed based on the physical explanation and derivation of the energetic model. The accuracy of this modified energetic model is significantly improved without sacrificing its simplicity, confirmed by comparing its simulated symmetrical minor loops and hysteresis losses with those by experiments and the modified model proposed by Hauser, respectively.
