Abstract 3‐Iodoindole N ‐carboximidamides and N ‐carboximidoates 4 were prepared regioselectively via a sequential aza‐Wittig/iodine induced cyclization, starting from easily accessible 2‐alkynylphenyl iminophosphorane, isocyanates, various nucleophiles and iodine.
