Experimental study demonstrates enhanced nanoparticle loading and thermal conductivity in functionalized carbon nanotube nanocomposites, indicating optimal routes for advanced thermal materials.
Functionalized Multiwall Carbon Nanotubes (MWCNTs) with carboxyl and amino groups were decorated successfully with alumina nanoparticles (NPs) through covalent and non-covalent interaction by co-precipitation method. The obtained products were examined by Infrared spectroscopy (IR), X-ray diffraction pattern (XRD), Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and Transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The achieved results confirm that using of amino functional groups for coating of MWCNTs increases the amount of loading of nanoparticles on nanotubes walls. It was observed that the thermal conductivity coefficient could be improved by using different methods of synthesized and functionalized groups over the surface of MWCNTs.
