Reactive microgels containing sulfo groups were prepared by copolymerization of N,N′ ‐methylenediacrylamide (1) and 2‐acrylamido‐2‐methylpropanesulfonic acid (2) in water. The composition of the microgels, their structure, density, molecular weight and viscosity in solution were examined depending on the composition of the monomer mixture and the reaction conditions.
