Cationic bis-carbene palladium acetate complexes are obtained by protonation of their neutral bis-acetate precursors and show fluxional behavior in solution, whereas the use of NaBArF 24 generates unique sodium complexes instead. The cationic palladium species can undergo dimerization, which was proven by single-crystal X-ray analysis.
