A toothpaste containing sodium fluoride and enzymes activating the antibacterial lactoperoxidase-thiocyanate system was tested in a model with sucrose-induced plaque formation. The dentifrice did not reduce the acidogenicity of dental plaque in vivo in the present study, neither did it reduce plaque formation in a test panel. A toothpaste containing SnF₂ showed measurable effect in both respects.
