Uniform, flexible, wurtzite-type ZnS nanobelts decorated with a ZnS–diethylenetriamine (DETA) hybrid intermediate can be prepared by a mild solvothermal reaction in a solvent mixture consisting of DETA and water (see figure). The volume ratio of DETA to water has a significant influence on the structure, composition, shape, and phase evolution of the product. This approach may provide a general route to prepare other semiconductor nanoarchitectures with tunable optical properties.
