Shock loading experiments were carried out on arc-melted Nb 3 Si over the pressure range 50–110 GPa using a two-stage light gas gun. T c for the superconducting phase observed in specimens subjected to shock was 18 K and -(d H c2 /d T ) was 1.23 tesla/K. The observed high- T c phase is most probably A-15 Nb 3 Si transformed from the tetragonal Nb 3 Si (Ti 3 P type) phase during shock loading.
