8,868 ml. of plasma were obtained from 364 male sockeye salmon (Oncorhynchus nerka), caught in the Stellako River, British Columbia, in October 1958. Extraction and analysis for adrenocorticosteroids revealed the presence of cortisol (5.2 μg.⁄100 ml.), corticosterone (7.3 μg.⁄100 ml.), cortisone (6.1 μg.⁄100 ml.) and aldostcrone (0.12 μg.⁄lOO ml.). In addition four unknown Δ4-3-ketones possessing reducing side chains were also isolated and designated X1 (0.63 μg.⁄100 ml.), X2 (0.1 μg.⁄lOO ml.) and W2 and W3 in approximately equal concentration (0.25 μg.⁄100 ml.).
