Pressure dependences of the second-order elastic constants of ZnTe and ZnSe (zinc-blende structure) have been measured at 295°K as a function of hydrostatic pressure up to 6 kbar by means of ultrasonic pulse-echo method. The pressure derivatives evaluated at zero excess pressure for C11, C12, C44, and Bs (bulk modulus) are, respectively, 4.81±0.07, 5.12±0.1, 0.45±0.03, and 5.04±0.18 for ZnTe and 4.44±0.07, 4.93±0.1, 0.43±0.03, and 4.77±0.8 for ZnSe.
