Experimental and numerical simulation study demonstrates magnetic flux concentrators enhance heat and current density during rotor brazing, indicating potential to prevent fusion defects.
This letter presents a novel investigation into the thermal behavior of induction brazing of squirrel cage rotors, combining experimental temperature monitoring with multi-physics field simulation. The numerical analysis reveals that the implementation of magnetic flux concentrators markedly improves current density concentration on the end ring surface. A temperature differential of approximately 59 °C was observed between systems with and without concentrators during the steady-state rotor brazing process. Inadequate heating may contribute to incomplete fusion defects. These findings highlight the potential of magnetic flux concentrators in optimizing thermal distribution and improving the thermal conditions for induction brazing.
