Descriptive survey reveals moderate information literacy skills in undergraduate students, indicating a need for dedicated curricula integrating artificial intelligence literacy.
The main goal of this study is to assess the level of information literacy of undergraduate students at the College of Basic Education in Kuwait. A quantitative approach was adopted, and a descriptive survey was conducted. In total, 796 responses were received from the participants (both males and females) during the second semester of the 2024–2025 academic year. Data were gathered from the second, third and fourth-year students enrolled in the College of Basic Education to ensure that responses were elicited from the most experienced students in the field of information literacy. The overall results indicated their information literacy skills to be at a moderate level. Therefore, the study recommends that information literacy needs to be reinforced in all aspects. This can be done through establishing information literacy courses based on reliable guidelines rooted in the information literacy professional literature and in line with the current digital era, such as integrating AI literacy into the information literacy curriculum.
