The hyperfine field at the position of Fe57 nuclei in UFe2 was measured by means of the Mossbauer effect. The transmission through the powdered UFe2 sample of 14.4-kev gamma rays emitted from Co57 incorporated in silicon was observed at liquid nitrogen temperature as a function of the velocity of the gamma-ray source. The estimated value of the hyperfine field at room temperature was estimated to be 20 + 8 kilo-oersteds. The absorption pattern at liquid nitrogen temperature spread broadly and the intensity of the two outermost absorption lines is three times larger than that of the two central lines indicating values of less than 65 kilo-oersteds for the hyperfine field of Fe57 in UFe2.
