Does B-flow ultrasonographic imaging correlate with color duplex flow US in the evaluation of internal carotid arterial stenosis?
B-flow imaging parameters cannot be used in evaluating internal carotid arterial stenosis as they do not correlate with standard duplex US.
B-flow imaging should not guide carotid stenosis assessment; leaves open whether protocol refinements could improve correlation in prospective validation studies.
In this prospective pilot trial, B-flow ultrasonographic (US) imaging was compared with color duplex flow US in the evaluation of internal carotid arterial stenosis. Despite almost excellent interobserver variability, none of the investigated B-flow imaging parameters correlated with those of duplex US. In conclusion, the investigated B-flow imaging parameters cannot be used in evaluating internal carotid arterial stenosis.

Bucek et al. (2002) conducted an observational in Internal carotid arterial stenosis. B-flow ultrasonographic (US) imaging vs. Color duplex flow US was evaluated on Correlation of imaging parameters. B-flow ultrasonographic imaging parameters did not correlate with color duplex flow US and cannot be used to evaluate internal carotid arterial stenosis.
