Polarized neutron techniques have been used to sense the effect of the localized spin in a 1000-ppm Fe in Cu single crystal on the intensity of Bragg scattering. The coherent magnetic scattering that results from the localized magnetization induced by 15 000 Oe of applied field strength has been studied in the (111) Bragg reflection in the temperature region of 2°–25°K The measured localized field-induced magnetization was found to have the same temperature dependence as the bulk magnetization indicating the absence of any large field-induced magnetization in the compensating conduction electron cloud. The Kondo temperature was found to be approximately 10° K by fitting the data with the predictions of the spin fluctuation model.
