18F-FDG-PET/CT identifies adrenocortical carcinoma with cavoatrial tumor thrombus extending to the right atrium.
Why the study?
Adrenocortical carcinoma is a rare, aggressive malignant neoplasm that can produce intravascular extension into the inferior vena cava and rarely into the right atrium.
Case Report (n=1)
18F-FDG-PET-CT is useful in identifying and characterizing rare intravascular extensions of adrenocortical carcinoma into the inferior vena cava and right atrium.
Adrenocortical carcinoma (ACC) is a rare and highly aggressive malignant neoplasm which can produce intravascular extension into the inferior vena cava (IVC) and can rarely extend into the right atrium. We describe the 18 F Fluorodeoxyglucose Positron Emission Tomography-Computed Tomography findings of a 57-year-old man diagnosed with ACC with IVC thrombus extending up to the right atrium.

Bal et al. (2019) conducted a case report in Adrenocortical carcinoma with inferior vena cava thrombus (n=1). 18 F Fluorodeoxyglucose Positron Emission Tomography-Computed Tomography was evaluated. 18F-FDG-PET/CT identified adrenocortical carcinoma with an inferior vena cava thrombus extending up to the right atrium in a 57-year-old man.
