The adiabatic elastic constants of single-crystal cadmium fluoride have been measured over the temperature range of 4.2-295 K. The values of the elastic constants given in units of 10¹⁰ N/m² at 4.2 and 295 K, respectively, are C₁₁=19.79 and 18.39, C₄₄=2.490 and 2.196, and C₁₂=7.294 and 6.619. The Debye temperature calculated from the elastic constants at 4.2 K is 331.6 ±{} 0.7 K. A phenomenological relationship between the Debye temperature and the reduced mass of the unit cell of the cubic-metal fluorides is reported.
