The paper presents the results of microwave dielectric investigation of SbSI—type crystals and the study of the soft mode which lies near the phase transition in the microwave region. A model of the phase transition is developed taking into account the large lattice anharmonicity which results in the splitting of the B1u—symmetry mode.
