At the interface: The supramolecular organization of nanometer-scale objects is of great interest in the field of applied nanotechnology. Liquid–liquid interfaces can provide an alternative to current methods for the formation of highly ordered structures through the self-assembly of nanoparticles, nanocrystals, and even viruses (see picture). The concept is generally applicable and can be transferred to other interfaces, such as those of polymers.
