A simple method of determining the type of domains in the FIM images of ordered Ni 4 Mo(β) alloy is presented. The following features are taken into account along with the crystallographic relations: namely (i) the BCT symmetry, (ii) {111} FCC dark regions and <110> FCC dark bands, (iii) the relative size of ring steps of poles, (iv) the arrangement of bright spots in (hkl) BCT plane, and (V) the number of net ring steps between two poles. The above method has been successfully applied to determining the type of domains on FIM images of Ni 4 Mo alloy ordered to various degrees.
